Journalism in the future could change dramatically. In the future all journalism could be online and citizen journalists posting about the news. Newspapers could not exist completely sometime in the future. Newspapers are already having trouble financially because people get news faster, and free online instead of paying for a newspaper and waiting to read the news. I think that the part of this video that is unbelievable is how fast it is changing. If new media does take over all of journalism, then it wont happen for a long time, even though the aspects of journalism are changing rapidly.

I created a slide show of pictures that I feel represent my understanding of media today. Facebook, the nightly news, blogs, and newspapers are all important aspects of new media and journalism. Although some are more popular than others, they all contribute the the way society gets a better undersanding of media today.

Rick Sanchez blog

Ten charactersitics of a journalist are:
1. Ambitious
2. Passionate
3. Good writer
4. Confident
5. Stong work ethic
6. Knowlegable of technology
7. Interested
8. People person
9. Good communication skills
10. Honest
Yes, Rick Sanchez is a journalist. He is a new kind of journalist he follows all of the characteristics of a journalist but he puts a new twist on it. His work is funny yet informative. I believe it is journalism because he is giving the news just not traditionally. He uses new media to share information. Not everyone is a journalist now, but anyone can be in a nontraditional way. I don't think citizen journalists will overrun journalism in the future because being a journalist you have to follow all the characteristics, you have to have the coverage first, and you have to be knowledgable of things going on in the world.

This blog is about a recal in store bought childrens medication. The company initiated the recall after a Food and Drug Administration inspection of its manufacturing facility revealed some contamination and problems with correct dosage. The recal includes medicines like TYLENOL, MOTRIN, ZYRTEC and BENADRYL.
This is a polished form of what we see on the television or in the news because it is shorter, less detailed, and more to the point. It informs us better because it doesn't give all of the unimportant details that are added to make the news sound better or more interesting. Being a new journalist, I have realized that blogging is more effective because in the midst of peoples busy lives, they are able to be notified of important news stories in short simple ways while getting all the imoprtant facts. It is quick and easy as opposed to reading a news paper or turning on the television and waiting for the particular story to come on that you want to hear about. If i were to go into journalism today, I would be prepared to share the world with my facts and opinions on my own blog because blogging is becoming such a huge part of journalism.

The Future of Print Journalism
The future of print journalism will soon be coming to and end. It cannot survive the popularity of New Media. Print Journalism is a thing of the past because new media is faster and more convinient.
Some papers are changing the kind of coverage in the print. They are focusing less on breaking news because the Internet can deliver the information much faster. (multimedia) They are loosing their readers because of time, money and availability.
Most newspapers and online news organizations offer news for free on their websites. The companies who go with a paid subscription wont be able to compete the the online sources when the readers are able to get faster, more convinient converage for free on news websites.
Large newspapers are facing major financial challenges as advertising slows down due to Internet competition. However, local news papers are still staying strong because it is harder to get local news online.
Some people remain optimistic about print journalism but the truth is Journalists are loosing their jobs in newsrooms because new media is more beneficial and makes more sense.

New Media in my Life
New media affects everyones life, especially the lives of young students. Everything revolves around new media, whether you are applying for a job or college, making plans with friends or writting a term paper. Applying for jobs and college requires new media these days. Everything is done through websites and online profiles. What you put online can affect whether you are accepted or not.
Connecting with friends is mostly all done through new media. people hardly talk face-to-face anymore. Making plans with friends is done through texting or facebook messaging. However, it is a greatand quick way to connect and you can even find old friends who you may not be able to keep in touch with otherwise.
Most assignments for school are done through new media also. Students use websites to post papers or e-mail to send papers to professors. Without new media, students would be lost.
